Food & Drink
Sample spring’s bounty
Spring in Jersey brings a bounty of fresh, local produce that showcases the island’s rich agricultural heritage.
Sample the unique, earthy flavour of our famous Jersey Royal Potatoes in island restaurants as early as March, or indulge in a delicious Jersey dairy ice cream, made using milk produced by the island’s iconic Jersey Cows. Spider crabs are plentiful on the island in spring as they migrate inshore – and Jersey oysters, washed clean by our gigantic tides – are especially good at this time of year too.
Pick up your own produce at Jersey’s local farm shops or our quirky roadside ‘hedge veg’ stalls to cook up a storm in your self-catering accommodation. Or choose from one of many restaurants, pubs and cafés – plenty with al fresco areas to soak up the spring sunshine.
Gardens & Parks
Jersey in bloom
Jersey’s mild climate and rich soil make it an ideal place for a wide range of flowers to thrive. In the spring, the island’s gardens, fields and coastline come alive with flowers blooming in a rainbow of glorious colours. From daffodils to bluebells and wild pansies, set against the backdrop of spring blue skies, lush green fields and sparkling seas, Jersey shines especially bright in spring. Take a stroll through the island’s famous flower gardens like Samares Manor or admire the vibrant orchids at Eric Young Orchid Foundation, letting the sweet scents and vivid colours fill the air as you immerse yourself in the beauty of Jersey’s springtime blooms.
Outdoor adventures
Jersey is the ultimate playground for outdoor adventures, where fresh spring air calls you to explore our dramatic landscapes and stunning coastlines. Head out on an invigorating walk along Jersey’s dramatic northern coastal paths, where the panoramic views of the sea and sky stretch endlessly ahead, or hop on a bike and meander through the island’s scenic lanes, passing fields dotted with wildflowers and sunlit meadows, there’s always a new spot to discover.
Whilst the island’s waters are still relatively cool in the spring, Jersey’s activity providers begin opening shop at this time of year. So, if you’re happy to don a wetsuit there are plenty of coastal adventures like kayaking, coasteering and surfing to be enjoyed under the spring sunshine.
48-mile coastal walking route
Step into spring on the Jersey Tidal Trail
As the island bursts into bloom, there’s no better time to explore it on foot. The Jersey Tidal Trail winds around all 48 miles of the island’s coastline, offering a self-guided walking adventure bursting with wildflowers, sea views and salty spring air.
Take on the full island loop, or pick from the eight sections for a gentler ramble. With clifftop paths, hidden bays and birdsongs guiding your way, spring is the perfect season to follow the tide.
History & heritage
Discover Jersey's history
Jersey’s history is woven into every corner of the island. It’s unique blend of Neolithic, medieval, and wartime history provides so much to discover in just nine miles by five. Explore ancient sites like La Hougue Bie, a 5,500-year-old Neolithic burial mound (which is older than the pyramids!) and Mont Orgueil Castle, with its medieval grandeur. Visit the Jersey War Tunnels to uncover the island’s WW2 past. Spring is an ideal time to discover these sites, with mild weather and fewer visitors than in the summer, allowing for a more immersive experience.
