Getting to Jersey couldn’t be easier. Part of the Common Travel Area, our island is just a short flight or ferry ride away from the UK or Ireland, with plenty of options to suit your travel style. Whether you prefer hopping on a direct flight or throwing everything in the car and cruising onto the ferry, you’ll be starting your Jersey escape in no time at all. If you’re travelling from Europe, regular ferries run from the charming Port of St. Malo and direct flights also operate from certain French and German airports during the busier months of the year.

Hassle-free journeys

Jersey is the island escape that’s closer than you think and the perfect place to recharge. Forget driving for miles and getting stuck in hours of traffic to reach Britain’s coastline. Simply hop on a plane or ferry, and you could be enjoying a sundowner on our crowd-free shores within hours. With over 20 departure points across the UK and Ireland, a flight to Jersey takes around an hour or less. Or travel by car, bike or foot on ferries from Poole or Portsmouth – with overnight cabin crossing and faster daytime boats available.

Whether it’s a quick escape or a grand adventure, Jersey’s fascinating history, breathtaking landscapes and vibrant foodie scene await. At just nine miles by five, you can pack so much – or so little – into a Jersey island escape!

Passports & Visas

If you’re travelling from the UK, passports are not generally required – all you need is a form of photo I.D. We do recommend always checking with your airline and ferry company, before travelling, to confirm the identification that is required. Also check the terms/policies ahead of booking.

Delays & Cancellations

We hope your journey to Jersey is hassle-free, but sometimes factors beyond our control can impact travel. In the event that your flight to or from Jersey is delayed or cancelled, policies for compensation vary by carrier. We strongly recommend checking terms and conditions with your airline prior to booking your travel.

Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA)

From 02 April 2025, European passport holders traveling to Jersey via the UK will need an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) before reaching the UK border. An ETA costs £10, is valid for multiple visits over two years (or until your passport expires), and is usually approved within three days – often much sooner.

This requirement does not apply to those traveling directly to Jersey from Europe, meaning French day-trippers can continue visiting without an ETA this summer. Certain travellers, including British and Irish citizens, UK visa holders and those with settled status, are also exempt. Plan ahead and check if you need an ETA before you travel!
